G-Shock DW-6900 is one of Casio’s classic watches, included in its G-Shock line. It has one of the most recognizable dials within digital watches.
A classic watch that will never go out of style… we just have to worry about choosing the right model… Casio offers us many versions.
We only need the famous GW-6900-1 with solar charging and radio control, but Casio does not currently have it for sale in Europe on its official website, although it can be purchased online on sites like eBay or Amazon. The Casio G-Shock DW-6900-1VC model is also very famous.
The model that we have used to make the review is the limited edition DW-6900-1VC, with a black design, a positive screen, and a Cordura strap (a kind of canvas).

What model do we recommend you buy? Probably the Casio G-Shock DW-6900-1VC, as the limited editions are usually more expensive, and if you want it solar charged, the GW-6900-1 (but it’s usually much more expensive than recommended when its price catalog is about 100, 120 dollars).
But what has been said, for this review, we have been testing the DW-6900-1VC, a great option for its special minimalist design.
As you may have noticed, being a limited edition, the box is not the usual one that Casio usually puts in the G-Shock. Quite pretty and striking.
The lettering on the edge of the case is white. We also have the dial that maintains the original design but does not have so many letters: they just put the word Casio at the bottom.
It’s not as space efficient as Casio’s G-Shock 5600 or 5610 watches, but it’s such a striking and special design that in the end, we don’t care.
On the strap they say PLACES+FACES. All the lettering on the buttons on the case as well as on the strap are photoluminescent, so they are very conspicuous in the dark. Even the letters P+F appear on the screen when we light up the watch at night. Visibility is tremendously good. Nothing else can be said.
Needless to say, the light button, the one that appears on the front, presses wonderfully. The others too, but be careful not to have very big fingers. The “Adjust” button is slightly tucked in to avoid accidentally touching it. The other three buttons… almost impossible to press inadvertently (they are also protected).
In the case of the strap of this watch, it is very comfortable, probably much more than the models with resin straps. We’ll see how it behaves in a few years. As you can see in the following image, it can be easily removed and put on. You buy a new model and that’s it.
How is it on the wrist? The truth is that it is not one of the Casio G-Shock watches with the largest case and it looks great in many small ones. In my case, my wrist measures 19cm, so you get a good idea if this Casio is for you or not:
In short, it does not look like a big or small watch, and above all, it is very comfortable. You don’t even notice you’re wearing it.
Sphere? Well, one of the most original and recognizable of Casio. Everything looks perfect, the positive screen shows us the date, the day of the week, and the time.
At the top, we have three circles that show us the passing of the seconds. It is practically hypnotic to see the cheeses complete one by one. This option is very useful when we use the stopwatch or timer mode. Everything is easier to control.
It follows the design of the original 1994 G-Shock DW-6600. That’s a good sign. It is a perfect and classical design. Since then it has been used by many Armed Forces as a reliable watch, with good visibility, very safe and efficient.
functions? You can imagine them. The typical ones of a G-shock: it is shock resistant, you can submerge with it up to 200 meters and it has a stopwatch, timers – 1/1 second – 24 hours (with automatic repeat), multiple alarms, hourly time signal, and automatic calendar.
The operation of the watch is typical of Casios: you have to consult the manual to find out how to change the time, and date or put all its functions into operation, but if you have already had a similar Casio, it will not be difficult for you.
The CR2016 battery lasts approximately 2-3 years and an LED flashes as soon as an alarm, countdown, or time signal is reached. Something also very useful on many occasions.
Conclusion
It may not have solar charging or Multiband 6 (although there is a model that does), and the battery may only last about 2 years… It does not have sensors…… but it is one of the best-selling Casio G-Shock models of all time. There must be a reason. Its design is timeless. It will never go out of style…
And it’s a really comfortable watch to wear, and it’s cheap too. Perfect for small wrists, what more could you ask for?
